Trump Administration Launches Three New Strategies to Crack Down on Immigration

__ImmPolicy

In late July of 2026, various sources reported that the Trump administration had launched three new strategies to crack down on immigrants: One targets Haitians, the other naturalized citizens, and the third asylum seekers. If you fall into any of these categories, you might want to speak with an experienced immigration attorney in Palm Beach Gardens to see how you might be affected.

Haitians With Temporary Protected Status Prepare for Immigration Crackdown

On July 26th, 2026, CBS News reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was preparing for a major crackdown against Haitian immigrants with Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Technically speaking, these immigrants no longer have TPS thanks to a new move by the Trump administration. With TPS no longer protecting them from deportation, hundreds of thousands of Haitian migrants now find themselves targeted by ICE.

However, many of these immigrants are still entitled to hearings before immigration judges before their deportations can continue. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially recommended that all Haitians who recently lost TPS should self-deport. If you find yourself in this situation, you have the right to discuss your next steps with an immigration attorney.

Trump Administration Moves Ahead With Plan to Denaturalize Citizens

On July 27th, USA Today reported that the administration was moving ahead with a plan to strip citizenship from naturalized citizens. This denaturalization process is quite rare across United States history, although it could become much more common in the near future. The administration plans to specifically target those who obtained citizenship through fraud or misrepresentation.

Hundreds of denaturalization cases have already moved ahead under Trump. If you find yourself undergoing this process, you have the right to push back against allegations of fraud with help from an immigration attorney.

Trump Administration Fast-Tracks Immigration Court for Asylum Seekers

Also on July 27th, the Independent reported that the Trump administration had introduced a new policy to fast-track immigration court hearings for asylum seekers. Critics say that this would force asylum seekers to go before “unfriendly” immigration judges hand-picked by the Trump administration.

This is the same administration that has appointed hundreds of new immigration judges in recent years. Some say that judges less friendly to the administration’s strict immigration policies have been forced out. Under previous administrations, asylum seekers had the right to participate in intake interviews that assessed the threats they faced in their home nations. DHS is now pushing to skip this step, ostensibly to deport asylum seekers faster.
